CosmoProf?? Please Read if You Have Ever Been.

Well, I have spent about two or more hours reading blog after blog about the CosmoProf convention in Las Vegas. I did not know they offered this kind of stuff and I would love to attend the convention next year. It would be amazing to meet other crazy nail addicts like myself and also all that polish would be amazing to see. I was wondering if any of you all had any tips, suggestion, comments about the convention. Also how much would it cost to attend? I would love to hear from anyone who has been before so feel free to comment or email me.

Pink N' Sliver Toez



My awful Toes

This has been one of my favorite pedicure designs of all time. I like how simple this design is, but it is still sparkly and cute. I started off with "blissful" from In The Mood. This is one of my favorite colors in my polish collection. The reason way is because after you apply the polish to you nails it will CHANGE COLORS! When you are hot your nails will be white and when you are cold you nails will be a medium pink color. This is the only In The Mood color I have and I am on the lookout for more colors from this brand. Anyways back to how I did the pedi, for my big toe I did a sponge effect. To do the sponge effect, I dipped out, some nail polish and placed it onto an index card. Then, I took my sponge (just a regular sponge brush from the craft store) and dipped into the nail polish dot. From there I just lightly sponged on the pink. I did about two pink coats and then did the same with the silver. Then let it dry in between each coat. By the end of this pedi I think I had a total of three or four coats of silver and pink polish.  After, the polish complete dried I applied a top coat. For the rest of my toes I decide to do the pink as a solid color. I was concerned if I clear coated the polish it wouldn't change colors. However, I was wrong and it doesn't matter if you clear coat. The polish did stay on for about four days without clear coat before look slight shabby.  This is a super easy and quick pedi and I love how it turned out!

Pure Ice Crackle

 

I am probably up way too late typing this, but I just couldn't wait! In my last post I wrote how I finally found the new Pure Ice Crackle polish at Walgreen's. Well I used it tonight!!! This was the first time I have ever used a crackle polish, and so far I really like the way it turned out.
Before I painted my nails I looked up some sites about how to do the crackle polish. I was assuming there was a trick to get the crackle to turn out as cool as it looks in the pictures. When I brushed the polish on I was shocked how it just instantly crackled. I was surprise how easy it was to apply and I think my nails turned out great.

For this Manicure, I used "Blue collar" from Orly, "Dream On" from Sinful Colors, "Sunny Side Up" from Wet n' Wild, "Wild Thing"  and "Cream Flirt Alert" both from Pure Ice. I decide to paint each nail a different color for a more playful effect. It also gave me a chance to see the how the crackle polish would do on different brands of polish. I thought the polish did the best on the nails with the Pure Ice polish as a base coat. It turned out the worsted on the Wet N' Wild polish. I am not sure if it was because I ended up putting two coats on crackle polish on the orange or if the was just the base polish. I also learned the thinner coats look better; at least that is what I think. I love how the polish gives my nails a punk-ish look but still looks clean and pretty. I am hoping to get more crackle colors and try more brands in the future

Half-Moon Nails



I finally decided to try out the half-moon nail technique and I loved them!!! I started out by picking three different base colors. My choices were "Blue Collar" from Orly, "Wild Thing" and "Cream Flirt Alert" both from Pure Ice. I know it seems like I have been using these colors over and over again, which I have. But I do have more colors. I have just fancied these over my other colors lately. After, I painted the base coats in a rotating pattern, I applied the black which is "Liquid Leather" from Finger Paints. To make the half-moon effect I used note book page reinforcers. I placed them near the bottom of my nail on to the base coat. Then I painted the black on the upper part of my nail. I had some trouble get the stickers off my nails. I think it had to do with my fingers getting wet and it took a while for the polish to dry. Also, I was somewhat impatient with the drying process. Whoops!
After, I peeled the stickers off I dotted on four silver dots using my doting tool. The sliver is "Silver Mercedes" from Pure Ice.  After the dots dry I used one or two coats of clear coat just to protect my nails. For my thumb nail, I hand painted a design using a paint brush, and then used my dotting tool to apply more silver dots. Over all this manicure was fairly easy and I loved the way it turned out.

Happy Friday!!! I hope you all have an amazing weekend. Well, my Friday was made so much better when I found these polishes. I think some people have begun thinking that I am obsessed with Polish. But, a girl can never, ever, ever have enough nail polish, lol.

Left to Right- Wet N' Wild "Sunny Side Up", Sinful Colors "Dream On",
Pure Ice Crackle "Strobe Light"  and Hard Candy "Matte-ly In Love"

While I was out, I picked up the Hard Candy "Matte-ly In Love" polish at Wal-Mart for only 4$. I was super happy. I have been seeing so many different people do matte nails and now I can't wait to try them out myself.

I FINALLY FOUND MY PURE ICE CRACKLE!! I was super happy! I saw the polish display, first thing when I walked through the doors at Walgreens. I automatically walked over and began scanning over all the colors. I found the black which is called "Strobe Light" for 3.99$. I figure the black would be a good color to start with, since I have never done crackle before. I have already started thinking of colors to put behind the black. I can't wait to use this polish.

 

Also, at Walgreens I found these two colors. I thought they looked very summer-ish and I just liked the colors. The orange is "Sunny Side Up" from Wet N' Wild. I had been looking for a creamy light orange color for about a month. When I found this one for only 0.99$ I knew I had to snatch it up.

The Purple is "Dream On" from Sinful Colors. I have never used this brand before so I am curious about how the formula will go on my nails. I guess I will be finding out soon.

I think I am soon going to need a bigger nail polish box.

Summer Time French Tips

After, wearing my snake skin manicure, I decided I wanted something bright. I went back n forth between tips or solids for a little while and then I finally decided on these summer looking French tips. For the base coat I used French Peach from I <3 my nails, I always use a cream/clear coat before I add the polish for the tips. For the tips I used "Blue Collar" from Orly, “Wild Thing" and "Crème Flirt Alert" both from Pure Ice. After, my nails dried I thought they looked to plain so I decided I would do a dot design. I use the three colors listed above and add an orange color. This color is "Bright Orange” from LA nails. LA colors are not very creative with their names, but I love the fine tip brushes. To do the dots I dropped some finger nail polish onto an index card and then dipped my dotting tool in the dot of polish that was on the card. It was fairly easy, except the polish I had dropped on to the index card dried extremely fast. But I think that had to do with me painting my nails outside in the heat

I tried to get a picture of the sparkles. This was the best pic I was able to take.

Once my nails had completely dried I used a sparkly top coat from Finger Paints called "Holiday Sparkles". I don't quite understand the name because in curtain sunlight it was blue and purple.  However, I thought it added a good slightly sparkly finish.

Snake Skin Manicure!

When I found this Mani on The Looks for Less I was ecstatic. I literally think I remember squealing with excitement. I read her entire post, watched a video and even searched Google for more information of different ways to this technique. I found out that is mani had been showed on the today show recently and to have it done in salons it has whooping 150$ to 300$ price tag. I knew I could do it for way less and was excited to give it a try.  After, a few days of researching I set out on my hunt for snake snuff. Snuff is the skin that the snake sheds naturally it is also more humane then using real snake skin. I guess it is one snake’s trash is another person’s treasure lol. At the time we were camping in a state park, so I decided to ask one of the rangers at the nature center if they had any snake snuff I could use. I got a strange look, but after explaining why I wanted it, the ranger seemed on board. Jen gave me three different kinds of snake skin and about five pieces. She even came over the next day so I could to a trial run on her nails. I was excited about doing her nails and it taught me a lot before I did the technique to my nails. I think both of our manicures turned out great!

For the Snake Skin Mani you will need:

•Real Snakeskin (Snake Snuff)

•A Base Coat

•A Base Color

•Thick Clear Top Coat

•Small Scissors

•Tweezers

I started by using a deep brown base coat, For my base coat I used "Bronze Baby" from Petties. Jen decided that she wanted to use four different colors for her manicure. So, I used "Bronze Baby" from Petties, "Magic" from Pure Ice, and "Totally Toffee" and "Copper-glaze Platinum" both Revlon. I cut the snake skin to fit each nail and then applied a think top coat; before it could dry I used the Tweezers to carefully place the snake skin onto the nails. Once the bottom coat had dried good, I did the trimming to the snake skin. Trimming it just insures that all of the snake skin it against your nails. Next, I applied two thick layers of top coat.  The texture of the snake skin is slightly odd but I was able to get used to it after a day or two. After wearing the mani for a few days, I found that the snake skin with the smaller scales worked better than the skin with the bigger scales and they also have less texture.

As you can tell, I'm still working on the whole water marking thing. Any suggestion would be super helpful!

Over all the mani was amazing. I will definitely be doing it again.

Pure Ice Crackle Polish???

When I found out Pure Ice now makes Crackle Polish a I had a burst of excitement!

I am a huge Pure Ice fan and love their colors and the interesting name they choose for their products. Gotham Polish is where I first read about the Pure Ice Crackle. She wrote that she found the polish at a Walgreens in New York City. I instantly wondered if one of the Walgreens near me would also be selling the polish. Sadly, I have not had a chance to get there, nor have I found another place that sell Pure Ice Crackle. Hopefully I will soon though. But for the mean time I was wondering if any of you have tried this polish? How does it compare to OPI and Sally Hanson? Is it worth the price? and where are some other stores you have seen the polish sold?
Once I purchase and use this polish I will definitely be posting it here.

"Bronze Baby" Petties

Hello Dear Readers,I want to start off by apologize for the pics. I am still trying to figure out how to take them and such. Anyways, for this Mani I used "Bronze Baby" from Petties. It was my base coat for my snake skin manicure, but I wore the solid brown for about a day or two. I will be posting the snake skin manicure and technique in another post. This polish isn't on of my favorites, (I prefer brighter colors.) But it is a nice brown/bronze color and has a great shine after it dries, even without applying a top coat.

The only thing I don't like about this polish, is depending on how many coats you apply you do not always get a smooth finished, sometimes you can still see the ridges in your nails (or at least I can in mine.) In this picture I'm only wearing one coat and no top coat. Over all this color is an older color but still good.  

4th of July

I know I am late getting to this post, but better late than never. I know a lot of people who do Fourth of July nails, and I am no exception. I am always looking for new holiday ideas. This year was harder than years past for me to come up with something I liked. I guess it was because I just couldn't think of anything that really inspired me. After, lots of thinking and looking at a solid red base coat for a day. I came up with this idea.

Sorry, for the burliness, I took the picture with my phone camera. From now on I will be using my regular camera. Anyways back to the mani, this is probably in the top 10 hardest manicures I have ever done. But I think it turned out pretty good. I started with a red base coat on all my nails except for my ring finger. For the red polish I used Finger Paints “Primary Color”. For the base coat on my ring finger I use Pure Ice “Gold Dust” and then put and two light coats of "Fame" from Petties on top. For the details I used N.Y.C "Skin Tight Denim Cream" for the blue and L.A colors fine tip “white”.  I did all of the details free hand, it was a slow process but I think it worked out good. To apply the red and blue details I used one of my fine tip paint brushes, and for the white I used the brush that came inside the polish bottle. Most of the details were really easy. However, it took a little time to get the letters on my thumb the way I wanted them.  It took about 2 total hours to do this main since I did everything free hand. But the finish product was defiantly worth it

Tools

Before I start blogging about all the different polishes I use and the designs I make, I thought I would introduce you to some of the common tools I use to make the designs. 

This is a group of most of my tools inside my nail polish box.  First off, the two blue handled and yellow handle brushes are just regular paint brushes. I think I got all three of them from Walmart, they are great when trying to make small designs. I also have a file and an index card, I think all of you know what the file is for. I use the index card to put dabs of polish on when I am doing certain designs. The dotting tool is laying right after, the file. It is defiantly one of my favorite tools, and has help me achieve a lot of different looks. I have more written on the dotting tool below. The last tool I have in this picture is just a regular sponge brush from Walmart. I use it when I do a sponge technique on my nails. Hopefully I will have some picture of that technique up soon.

 Dotting Tool- First Off, This is possibly one of my favorite tools that I own. It took me about 2 months to fine and purchase this tool. I finally found it a Sally's Beauty Supplies for 6$ after looking at every store that came to my mind.  Sadly, I was only able to find it in one size, this greatly disappointed me. But I was still happy just to have come across one. Finding this tool was defiantly worth all my hard work and the price was extremely reasonable. 


 One tip of the tool is the dotting side. To use the tool you simply dip the point of the tool into the polish, then you make dots, swirls, lines or whatever you want to on your nail. Sometime you have to re-dip as you draw to keep the polish on the tool. I usually place some polish on to an index card and dip the point into the dot of polish on the card. But you can also dip in straight into the nail polish bottle if you wanted to, both ways work.

The other end is a paint brush. I'm not sure if you can see it from the picture but the tip of the paint brush is slightly bent. The reason why is so you can see better as you paint the designs on the nail. When I started looking for this tool, I was wanting one with two dotting points, one on each end. But since I could not find one made that way, I settled from this one.

There are some other random tools I did not list. However, they are only used for certain techniques. I will be sure to post them when I write about the different designs and things. Introducing Painted Tipz N' Toez

Hey Everyone, My name is Sierra and I am 15 years old. One of my favorite things to do is nails. I love the freedom you have when painting. I do a lot of free hand designs (even on my right hand.) I also recently got into trying so different techniques that are somewhat harder than I am used to doing.  I am making this blog to document my nail “Journey” so feel free to jump aboard and follow me. I will be posting everything from nail polish reviews, to random techniques I come across and more. I will try to blog once a week a least (hopefully more) but I make no promises. So before I go any further I would like to tell you some things about myself

10 things I want you to know about me.

1.       I am a junior in high school.

2.       Currently the brand “Pure Ice” is my favorite type of polish. (I use it all the time)

3.       I am a BIG people person and I love talking.

4.       Everyone asks if I want to go to cosmetology school. The answer has always been probably not. I really want to go to college to become a Speech Therapist.

5.       I am a Christian and love God with ALL my HEART.

6.       I LOVE sushi, nails, a good book, coffee, music, friends and family.

7.       I have been doing my nails since I was about 10 years old, so I have had TONS of practice.

8.       I am trying to find somewhere I can purchase and reasonable priced “Konad Stamper.”

9.       I follow about 20 different nail blogs (I just can’t get enough) each blog also has different ideas and I am always open to trying something new. So if you have any ideas fell free to tell me about them.

And Last but not lease number “10”

10.   I do my nails almost once a week, I find it very relaxing. I think I am immune to the chemical smell by now.
