50's Sock Hop Pics + Nails :)

Last Weekend, My Boyfriend and I went to a 50's Sock hop!!!! We had a BLAST!!! I think we dance over half the time we were there ha-ha. Well as for what I wore and my nails everything it below! Keep reading!!

I have recently become slight obsessive with 50's hair, makeup, dresses, etc. So this was a perfect time to break out all my love for the 50's!!!!
I ended up finding my dress on e-bay for only 40.00$. I purchased a medium, and I ended up having to take it to a tailor and have it taken in. When I purchased my dress, it came with the red sash but not with the red petticoat. My grandmother ended up finding my red petticoat at a little dress store in South Carolina for 20.00$. I paired my dress with some red stilettos that I purchased from JCPenny for 40.00$. These were the same shoes I wore to prom at the first of this year. For jewelry I added a small pearl necklace and earrings. I did my hair in a 50's style I found on the Internet, and then pulled it back with a red ribbon and added curls to the ponytail.

I completed my 50's look, with so 50's makeup. I did a dark brown/black eye with winged eyeliner and red lips. I COULD NOT go without red lips. (I was in a huge rush on the night of the dance and didn't get any close up pictures of my hair and makeup sorry!!)

Colors I Used:
Base Coat- ""Ruby-Ruby" Sinful Colors
Black- "880 Black Heart" Sally Hansen
White- "134 French White Tip" NYC
Toes- "Red Glitter" L.A Fine Tip and "Gettin' Miss Piggy With It" OPI

Over all the dance went amazing! My boyfriend and I had a great time. My dress and nails look amazing! And we danced the night away!!
Below I will post so pictures that my mom took before the dance!

Pink N' Black

So my pink and green mani didn't last very long. After, a few days I was ready for somewhat of a change. I decided to change only my thumb and middle finger nails. To change them I painted my nails two coats of "Black Heart" from Sally Hansen. Next, I added a coat of "Mattly in Love" this gave my nails a matte finish. For the design I used my dotting tool and "Black Heart" to create a cheetah print design. This was quite a different look from my bright pink and green mani a few days ago. But I thought it was quite cute.

Colors I Used:
Thumb and Middle: "Black Heart" from Sally Hansen and "Mattly In Love" from Hard Candy
Index and Ring: "Free Fall" from Pure Ice, "Sparkle" from Revlon and "Party of Five Glitters" from Wet N' Wild
Pinky: "Love" and "Free Fall" from Pure Ice and "Black Heart" from Sally Hansen

Yellow and Black Crackle Tips

Hello my dear readers, sorry my slim blog posting lately. Life has been crazy!!!! Between my little sister being in the hospital, school, dance lesson and getting ready for prom, I have had very little time to write. However, I do have a few blog posts in mind. I just have to find some time to write them down lol.

Anyways, Back to the reason you all read my blog...Nails!! This week I wanted something Yellow and Black. After tossing around a few ideas I decided on something quick and easy but still cute!

Colors I Used:
(Nameless) and honey yellow from L.A Colors, "Excuse Me" from Pure Ice and "Strobe Light" from Pure Ice Crackle

How I Did It:
Since I didn't own the shade of yellow I needed, I painted two coat of  the polish from LA Color under two coats of "Excuse Me" from Pure Ice. Once, that had dried completely I painted the tips of my nails in a diagonal shape using "Strobe Light" a crackle polish from Pure Ice. On my Index and pinkie finger I add a small cross-hatching design below my crackle tip. Over all the manicure took about 30min including drying time. It was super easy and turned out really cute.

Bordered Nail Design from Haute Lacquer

I have been following Haute Lacquer since I started my nail blogging journey last year. I love her graphic nail art and layering. I saw the boarding nail design a while back, but I didn't think I could do it well. However, I saw this post and loved the way it looked, so I knew I had to give it a whirl. The XOXO's definitely screamed me! Too check out the original design check out Haute Lacquers Blog - http://hautelacquer.blogspot.com/ She also has some other amazing post.

Colors I Used:
"Preal Black" Kiss Nail Art Brush, "Primary Color" Finger Paints,
"134 French White Tip" NYC

I liked it way it look, but definitely wasn't my favorite. I think my nails are a little too long to show how cool this design really looks. What to you think? Any suggest to get it to look better?

Peguin Nails!

This week I was in the mood for something a little different so I decided to do a little penguin nail art.
I think they turned out super cute and I got lots of compliments

Colors I Used:
Penguin Nails- "Black Lace Cream" & "French White Tip" from NYC Colors, "Sunny Side Up" from Wet N' Wild and "" from LA Colors
Polka Dot Nails- One coat of a yellow polish that has no name from LA Color over two coats of "Sunny Side Up" from Wet N' Wild, "Pearl Black" from Kiss Colors "" from Rimmel and "French White Tip" from NYC Colors.
How I Did It:
First I started by painting my thumb, middle and pinkie finger white. Then, I painted my nails black leaving a white space for the belly of the penguin. Next, I added the eyes. To do this I made a white dot, then using my doting tool I made a smaller black dot inside the white dot. For the beak and feet of my penguin, I mixed my orange and yellow polish to create and light orange paint. Then, using a paint brush I painted a triangle for the beak and two v's for the feet. Over all the nail art on this manicure was semi easy and I love the way it turned out.
Since I didn't want a full penguin manicure I decide to paint two accent nails. For these nails I layered two coats of "Sunny Side Up" under one coat of a polish from L.A Colors. This made the same color I used for the beaks and feet on my penguin. Then, I used my dotting tool and made diagonal dotted lines using silver, black and white polish. I thought this manicure was super fun and very wintery
What do you think of penguin nail? Would you ever do them?
